The Lost Kitten
One Saturday morning, Ali heard a soft meowing sound coming from the bushes near his house. He walked over curiously and found a tiny kitten shivering in the cold. Its fur was wet and matted, and it looked very hungry.
Ali gently picked up the kitten and carried it home. "Look what I found, Mum!" he called out. His mother came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel. She smiled when she saw the kitten.
"Oh, you poor thing," she said. "Let's get you warm and fed."
Ali's mother found an old towel and dried the kitten. Then she poured some milk into a small saucer. The kitten lapped it up hungrily. Ali watched with a big smile on his face.
"Can we keep it, Mum? Please?" Ali asked hopefully.
"We'll put up 'Found Kitten' posters around the neighbourhood first," his mother replied. "Someone might be looking for it."
They made colourful posters with a picture of the kitten and their phone number. Ali stuck them on lamp posts and notice boards around the estate.
Two days later, the phone rang. A little girl's voice said, "Is that my kitten? I lost her near the playground!"
Ali's mother asked her to describe the kitten. The girl said, "She has a white patch on her chest and one blue eye and one green eye."
Ali ran to check the kitten. Sure enough, it had a white patch on its chest and different coloured eyes!
"That's her!" Ali shouted excitedly.
The girl and her father came over quickly. The girl hugged the kitten tightly. "Thank you for finding Whiskers!" she said, tears of joy in her eyes.
